All about Galway
The Galway Market
Galway's famous bustling market has been trading in Church lane by St Nicholas' Church in the centre of the city for centuries. You will find hundreds of stalls selling fresh produce, locally produced crafts and a great variety of food available.
Eyre Square
John F. Kennedy Memorial Park formerly named Eyre Square and still widely known by that name, is within the city centre, adjoining the nearby shopping area of Williams Street and Shop Street. The park is a great place to relax and watch the world go by.
The Spanish Arch
The Spanish Arch, which is located on the banks of the river Corrib, was built in 1584. It was originally an extension of the famous city walls, designed to protect the quays. It is a great location just off the main streets to relax and enjoy views of the river and the Cladagh.
The Galway City Museum
Situated behind the famous Spanish Arch, overlooking the River Corrib and the ancient Cladagh village, The Museum houses exhibitions which explore aspects of the history and heritage of Galway City and County and is now the proud home of Padraic O Conaire.
Salthill
Situated just minutes from the Galway City Centre, Salthill is a traditional seaside resort offering facilities to please young and old. Leisureland is great for kids and Salthill's famous prom is the perfect place to watch the sun go down on Galway Bay.
